In tho year 1897 there will bo two eclipses,
both of the sun.

I.—An annular eclipse of tho sun, February 1st, not visible in Canada, visible as a
partial eclipse in tho southern parts of the
United States.
EL—An annular eclipse of tho sun, July
29th, visible in Canada as a partial eclipse;
commences at Toronto, July 29th, 8b. 4Cm.
a.m., ends 10b. SGm. a.m., eastern standard
time.
Morning and Evening Stars, 1897.
Venus is an evening star to April 28th,
afterwards a morning star. Mars is an
ovening star to November 21st, afterwards
a morning star. Jupiter is a morning
star to February 23rd, an ovening star to
September 13th, afterwards a morning star.

Saturn is a morning star to May 17th , an
evoniing star to November 25th, afterwards
a morning star. Mercury will bo a morn
ing star about Fobruary 15th, June 16th
and October 7th, an ovening star about
January 6th, April 28th, August 20th and
December 80th. Venus will bo at its great
est brilliauoy March 21st and .Juno 3rd.
Tho satellites of Jupiter are invisible
from August 15th until Octobor 12th,
Jupiter being too near the sun.

<p>MONDAY, February 1 Cold and frosty. I drove down and got Clara. Mother, Jennie, Jos. H. Lawrence here in afternoon.</p>

<p>SUNDAY, February 7 Mild. We went to church in the morning and to Olin Hicks’ funeral in the afternoon at the church.</p>
<p>MONDAY, February 8 Froze a little last night; snowed some in forenoon. I went over and got my lumber from Mr. Dean’s — 578 feet at 13½. Took a load of fodder to Mr. Hazzard.</p>

<p>SUNDAY 7 Cloudy. We went to church in the morning and down home for dinner.</p>
<p>MONDAY 8 Cloudy & misty. I finished digging potatoes.</p>
<p>TUESDAY 9, 1897 Heavy rain last night and in forenoon. We went up town in the afternoon. Clara got a pair of shoes and rubbers and I got an overcoat.</p>
<p>WEDNESDAY 10 Fine. I husked corn in forenoon and hauled a load in the afternoon. John Burns here for dinner.</p>
<p>THURSDAY 11 Rainy turning cold. I cut a hole in the partition and put a thimble in.</p>

<p>SATURDAY 13 Cold, froze hard. I hauled 3 loads of corn and we went up town in the afternoon. Clara & I were over to A. J. Ripley’s in the afternoon.</p>
<p>SUNDAY 14 Stormy all day. Home all day.</p>
<p>MONDAY 15, 1897 Rainy in forenoon. I took some chops to mill.</p>
<p>TUESDAY 16 Cold & windy. I got chop home and some bolts for the hog pen; dug sugar beets in the afternoon.</p>
<p>WEDNESDAY 17 Cold, froze hard last night. I husked in the forenoon and got in some corn.</p>

<p>FRIDAY 19 Fine, warmer. Finished corn in the Robinson and finished hauling corn off the back field.</p>
<p>SATURDAY 20 Warm. I got a load of lumber to Hazard; pulled corn out of the crib. Clara went up town in the afternoon. Paid for binder twine.</p>
<p>NOVEMBER — SUNDAY 21, 1897 Warm turning colder. Went to church in the morning.</p>
<p>MONDAY 22 Cloudy. Snowed all the afternoon. I set gate posts in the back field and one in the pasture.</p>
<p>TUESDAY 23 Cold N. wind. I helped W. Reese kill 10 hogs.</p>

<p>THURSDAY 2 Cold. I put a light in the cow stable and slats on the pig pen.</p>
<p>DECEMBER — FRIDAY 3, 1897 Milder, thawing some. I hauled some corn in the barn in the afternoon. We went up town in the evening.</p>
<p>SATURDAY 4 Rainy in forenoon. I went up town in the afternoon. I got some liniment for Dick’s shoulder.</p>
<p>SUNDAY 5 Cold, West wind. I went to church in the morning. Clara and Willie came up. Grandpa Harvey & Lottie here for dinner.</p>

<p>FRIDAY 10 Rainy. I helped Mr. Huff kill one pig in the forenoon, took some chop to mill in the afternoon.</p>
<p>SATURDAY 11 Rained some most all day. I cut up the pig and husked some corn in the forenoon. I went up town in the afternoon.</p>

<p>Tuesday 14 Rained last night. Pressed hay all day.</p>
<p>Wednesday 15 Cloudy. Finished pressing hay at noon. H. J. French and we went to [Council/Connel?] meeting at Dawn Mills in afternoon.</p>
<p>Thursday 16 Fine, turning cold. I finished hauling corn in forenoon. We [sorted?] and pitted the potatoes in the afternoon. Clara dug some potatoes in the garden.</p>
<p>Friday 17 Snowed all day, about three inches. Jobbing. Went up town in the evening.</p>

<p>Wednesday 22 Cold, some flurries of snow. Jobbing.</p>
<p>Thursday 23 Cold. N. West wind. I cleaned some wheat and took it to S. Mcvay — 38 5/8 bu. I got pay for wheat — 105 5/8 bu at 77¢ per bu, $81.37. Wheat all 83¢ per bu, standard.</p>

<p>MONDAY 27 Snowed some in forenoon. Mr Kelley and I went to Nomination at Dawn Mills in the afternoon.</p>
<p>TUESDAY 28 Very cold and frosty. 12 degrees below zero. Cleaned some wheat and [choppin the wagon] and hauled a load of fodder to H. Fletcher and one for myself.</p>
<p>WEDNESDAY 29 Stormy. Snow then rain. We hauled one load and a half of fodder. Took a grist of wheat to mill. We attended a lodge of I.O.F. at Dawn Mills last night.r</p>
