Mr James Cameron Island December 15 1868

Went to Fort Covington Left my canoe at Hopkins no Letter stopt at Less all night Bought Tobacco {?} meat A Lyne crossed the River from Mr Smarts Left Charles Letter with Mr Streeter a treat at Big hall 3 coppers of crackers at Drews{?} 6th Came home got Loan of a Book from Mrs Hopkins the Knight of St Johns I got Back my shipwrecks and Disasters at Sea 17th Thrashed 40 lb wheat 18th Thrashing 19th Tanning{?} He took across to Christes 20th Stormy East Wind 21st went to try the ice its Bad turned Back got a Rat 22nd the Ice Broke up 23rd fine Day commenced to storm 24th Ice took a very cold cold 25 Christmas Day I crossed got Christmas at John Hamiltons and also at Walter Bakery took Dinner there 26th I crossed got a Ride up and Down from John Hamilton Bought of A J B{?} 50 lb of Flour on credit 1/4 Tea Tobacco 1 plug got the Loan of Hamiltons hand sleigh to take home the Flour 27th Sunday Stormy Day 28th Norman M Donald died took home the hand sleigh Brought G Renshaw 16 lb Beef {above} 28 Horses croped George in Lancaster stopt with George all night papering the Post office with AJ Baker 29th came home our Angus Birth Day 30th put the stack in the Barn 31st a Fine Day chopping Last Day of the Year 1st of January 1869 New Years Day stormy East Wind 2 chopping 3rd Allens Birth Day 4th Drew the Boat up from the River cut a waterhole went to the Bush cut a white ash Tree 5th cutting 6th Put the Boat up on the Board on the Barn 7th Went to Williamstown Brought cherries sage {?} away a treat from Tom Summers Left my cain {blacked out} a Ride out from Donald fell {?}

8th Hugh Ann Birth Day 1866 in Williamston got some worm Lozenges from James Burthons 9th in Williamston James Ferguson Bushes sale Raining 10th came home got a Ride from John Dungvales{?} son to the front a great Bazzar in Williamston all this week got 2/6 from Dun for Gordon sweetys Dan went to Montreal Last night John Angus got the Bag from Pat I left at Mr Harpers 11th chopping some in the Bush 12th writing{?} stormy some 13th chopper ash in the Bush about a Load 14th croped {?} Part of free put a Letter in for Charlie postage /5 got a paper Lent it to William McLead got a Letter from A Summers from Chicago Bought of A L Baker 1/4 Tea 1 plug of Tobacco 2 papers of Matches 1/5 great croping the Road Bushed yesterday ice not very thick about 5 inches promised Semo{?} some hay 15th putting the marsh hay to the west side of the Barn Began to cut the fine hay on the East side filled 3 1/2 Bags with ashes Gordon and Tom the Pitt Paint cutting a Load of wood a very fine Day took home a cedar Broom 16th Horses got in at Jacobs Island 17th Sunday cold hard frost tonight 18th very frosty East Wind Semo{?} came Drew a Load of Wood Went to Mill 3 bushels of Wheat 5 1/2 of ashes 1 Rat 16 abfshin{?} Bought of Darrel Baker 1/2 lb Tea 1/3 1/4 lb Tea -/5 spool thread -/33 hauls of Black Shears{?} -/6 cash 36 cents a treat 5 cent 120 cents from Mr Sheeter{?} 20 cents to Grange for fixing teapot 1/2 lb crackers from George Drew {?} 2 cents of hoarhound candy at Mr Congdons{?} got 4 almanacks a paper from John Semo traded his horse Bought of A J Baker treat -/6 Bottle 1/3 /1 of sweetys went to see Mrs Munroe gave Semo some hay 15th a Fine Day Making hay for the soap weighing the flour 120 lbs 20th Finished the soap making a handle for the 3 prong fork stormy {blacked out}
