quiet a heavy white frost last night. {This sentence was written at the top of the page, lighter than the rest of the diary entries.}

Fri Aug 5_ The men all here. Annie and Lizzie here for dinner. Ma came home.

Sat Aug Sept 6_ Fine day. the men all finished harvest here all but the {king? This word was written on top of a previous word, which was scratched out. It is unclear what the original word was.}. Grant left Pa's.

Sun Aug Sept 7_ Fine day. "Concord Church Opening" The Rev. Mr Starr preached. I stayed dinner at Pa's_ Willie Farrs' and two gentlemen here for tea. I went to Church in the evening.

Mon Aug Sept 8_ Fine day. We went to the lecture over at the Church.

Tue Aug Sept 9_ Rained nearly all day. Willie & Mary also Uncle at the Exhibition. We kept the children.

Wed Aug Sept 10_ Fine day. Mary came for the children. Mr and Mrs Thomas Nightingale and Gertrud came. Tom Farr here for tea.

Wed Thur Aug Sept 11_ Fine day. Mr Nightingales left. Annie and Lizzie here for a while in the afternoon

Fri Aug Sept 12_ Rained nearly all day. Mick went away to the Exhibition.

Sat Aug 13_ Fine day. but cold. Aunt Mattie and I went out to call at Mr Gibsons.
