but found no one at home. Then went to store and home. Did some short-hand and reading in the evening.

Tuesday Jan. 25th.

Went down to the Bank in the Morning. Did Some French. In the afternoon , called on Mrs. Cross (Leola) out, on Mrs. Boos, Mrs. Caldwell and Mrs. Wallace Buckley. Read "Personal Recollections of Joan of Arc" by Mark Twain in evening. Mrs. Ryan got telephone message that her husband had been arrested & had tried to commit suicide. Cold day.

Wednesday Jan. 26th.

Cold but little milder. Wrote 3 letters for Charles. Finished "Personal Recollections of Joan of Arc." Went up to Mother's in the afternoon and then stayed at office and did the entries up to date. Not known whether Mr. Ryan will recover or not. Did Some short-hand. Wrote to Adelaide and Irene Frazier.
