1st of April 1897 All Fools Day Fine piling wood Barry and Renshaw came for Randolph to go Hunting Ice very slow opening 10 Gallons Thats 32 1/2 in all to Day

2 Fine Lots of Shooting in the sugar Bush 39 1/2 to Day shot a Duck at the Little Island Letting the water Run hard Frost at nights

3rd Fine Frosty sap Running well shot 4 Ducks got a Rat went to the upper Point Letting the water Run on the South side Made Syrup

4th Fine in the sugar Bush ice going Down Jamming

5th Fine Frosty nights Randolph came Thunder and Lightning some Rain

6th Fortunate Day 2 of Lewis's Boys for 1/2 Gallon Syrup Made Syrup ice Left the Back Bay yesterday Gun got wrong

7th of April 1897 On This Day of the Month Uncle John Departed 1893 Fine E Wind Shot 6 Ducks about 63 Gallons now Ionia Making her Sugar to Day Took the Bun From the Head of the Island Found a 1/2 Sugar Barrel in the water Burning the Marsh on the south side

8th Fine Taking some of the Banking away Took home Syrup 2 of Lewis's Boys 2 Bakets of Syrup for them Frogs Music sap Running well Randolph got 6 EEls 2 Young Pigs Last night 3 Dead

9th on this Day of the Month I was Married 1862 35 years to Day Fine Turned to Rain Sleet snowed to night E Wind an Indian here he is a Dummy Bought a Quartof Syrup had no change but had a 5 Dollar Bill pay it some time
