24th of Dec 1897 Christmas Eve a very cold Day Nor West Wind Drifting Fine Randolph came Down with our Mail Sent a Letter with him to Put in the P Office took with him from here 2 Hocky Sticks Livinia make cakes Gordon chopping stove wood Leanders Foot not very well Stanley and Ionia Knocking about Livinia Reading and Knitting 2 Mocksuns around the sun on the north side and 1 on the south Broke on another Stack at the North Door
25th Christmas Day Fine Day ice making not much Wind and not Frost but a Big Skim of ice Leander and Stanley to sturgeon Island with the Boats
26th Fine S of snow
27th St John the Evangeist Day Colder Windy oiling Harnefs
28th Fine W Wind ice is making a Skim acrofs took home the Sheep

29th of December 1897 Uncle Angus Cameron B Day E Wind not very cold not cold enough to make Good ice Big air-hole Before the Door Gordon and Leander went to the Head of the Island to see how it Took all open up there Looks good Between here and Plum Island Lots of air-holes no Foxes came Last night Fine Day some cakes Breaking off in the air hole Leander Foot not very well Seen a Large Bird of some Kind Goose or Eagle or owl in the North Bay
30th Fine W Wind Thawing Rain ice that made is all going Down Seen a Boat crofsing its some of Lewis's a Fox on here to night
31st Fine Day Gordon crofsed for the Mail got a Parcel From Minnie got a checqe From Dan with 10 in it to 2 Bottles of RRR Leander got a Letter From DMM a peice of her Drefs From Minnie Feathers a Kercheif for Pa Bottle For Pepper Dish for Ma for Sissy and some for Ionia Gordon crofsed
