October, WEDNESDAY, 18 1871.

Was at the same work as yesterday and finished it. Drove Mrs JBS {Snell} and family up to her home this evening. The weather is dry and cool


Was plowing all day with two teams in the fall wheat stubble ground, Pretty warm weather with a high wind to night. Spent evening reading the weekly papers

October, FRIDAY, 20 1871

Finished plowing the fall wheat stubble ground of 9 1/2 a {acres?} Received a letter from father, Stewartville Missouri stating that they had arrived safe in two days and nights travel and are rather disappointed in the appearance of the country. Spent the evening at Choir Practice.


Had a call from a gentleman living near Ottawa wanting to buy improved stock, priced some things to him but made no sales. Received from Mrs A. Woodhall $7.50 for value received by "Clifton". Had a visit this evening from Misses Campbell and Westervelt A fine warm day.
