Mr James Cameron Island April the 19th 1864

First Ploughing Before the Door tore down the cook House Shot a Duck ice going Down yet East Wind Great roaring of Loons a Great many Fishing eels Drew some stones to the Bank Fishing Lights out now for spearing

20th ploughing Shot a Duck Emmanuel here

21st very {illegible} Charlie here Ellen & Lis came got 2 EEls from Charlie gave him 3 Rats shot a Duck 2 Lambs to night for the first

22nd Steamer went Down for the first a propeller First Lights in the Light House Took up my Traps ice in the Marsh yet snow in the Garden Henery & Boy here caught a Basswood canoe Henery Told me Mr Harper had Left Renshaws

23rd St Georges Day Fixing the Fence a Boat went Down Raining very sick

24th Sunday 2 Lambs 1 Dead 1 of the old sheep Went with Gordon to the Little Island the Sturgeon Island south side) a Fine Day Great Shooting on the Dundee side very sick took some nitre which made me feel Better its cold the sap runs a Little yet ice Going down

25th St Mearst Day Ploughed some commenced to B{illegible}

26th piling some of the Wood that fell Down set 3 Traps got a cat fish

27th Got a Rat Went to Renshaws Bought of Powell for the first time 1 B of oil 1 lb Tea 1/2 of each) 4 pins {illegible} 6 sheets of paper 1/2 lb candles took home the pot the cham{illegible} all night at Renshaws the St Helen went Down our Nannie a Lamb and She wont Look at it

28th A Fortunate Day finished piling the Basswood Traveller Sir John Campbell 2 Propellers went Down The Traveller came up the Bouquet in to Salmon River for the first time Snow Last night and to Day some got {illegible} Ploughing some on Barley place wet yet took of some stone ploughing {illegible} above the house Ranger went up St Helen {illegible} & I to Dundee Bought 1 1/2 Potatoes 1 ewe {last line illegible}

3rd {illegible} a Little Gave them 1 1/2 Doz of Herring some Potatoes {illegible} went off Gave me 6/3 they owe me 3/9 yet {illegible} to pay me cleaning out the old House {illegible} the 2 Rams Big Ram 6 lbs on the {illegible} got a Rat Ploughed a Little
