Mr James Cameron Island May 10th 1865

Ploughing Looking for the young Ram all Day and him in with the sheep the Black lamb Dead Tom crofsed with the 2 Canoes

11th Ploughing Raining went to Fish EEls got 2 Wind Raised as usual Fixing the Brush Fence some planted Corn before the old House about 80 Hills of Yellow corn sweet corn or sugar Corn about 40 hills took 2 currant Bushes on the 10th

12th Went for a Plant at the head of the Island ploughed some Tom Tried the Perch to Bite got none Finished Reading Paul Clifford Fixing a Whippletree snow on the Mountains 3 Propperllors after one another the St Helene chasing the Huron My Horses very slow to work they want a Driver none too Fat Plenty Good Hay not any oats

13th got 2 eels in the Mud Tom and I Dan came Blistered his hands not Being accustomed to Row

14th Sunday Dan Went off

15th Sowed 2 1/2 of Pease Foggy this Morning Tom set his line set mine Broke Lost 30 Fathom of it got 3 Perch for the First Tom Caught Harrowed the Garden Made holes for the Corn

16th Planted 300 hills of Corn Put Manure on them Planted Pumpkins Pat & Charlie here Charlie Brought a Hen for eggs as he has no Ruster Mr Streeter & his Brother William who is very Poorly along with him Gave him 3 Rats Thunder Foggy Pat Brought Livinia 1/2 lb Tea some crackers Gordon Charlie Pretty well to Do washed 6 peices for Pat caught 4 Perch Left his Dog the hen off her nest A Hatching

17th Made a Fence Behind the shed put out 4 Loads of Manure some on the corn and potatoes a Load in the Garden very fine and then turned very cold Gomprey up first got eating of Perch Tom got a Pickerel

A Fortunate Day trying to Plough the horses will not got for me sowed a Bushel of Wheat on1/2 pails harrowing

19th Tom Setting his Lines Mosquitoes commencing

20th Digging the peice Behind the shed at the Pig Pen Fishing caught a Pickerel Let Gray out to Grafs went to Fish at night with a Light got 15 Tom & I I Lost a Great many as my spear is not very good Looking for Gordon as his is Lost Got him in the wheat Ground asleep

Sunday Rogation the 21st Went to the Little Island North side Gordon & I got 6 Duck Eggs Gordon had a right view of the American steamer set Fire to the Hay on the Little Island Let out the sheep and Lambs The Batchelor & Molly together Tom Went home took a Pike with him the Potatoes Beginning to peep up onions up in the garden Beets & carrots

22nd Taking the ground away from the east end of the House and stones took 6 Bushels of Potatoes out of the cellar put in the old House planted 6 paills of Potatoes in the Garden 1 Row next the currant Bushes of early Lady Fingers next Row Blue Merseys or seedlings

23 Ploughing had to take Grey to Finish a Ridge alone

24th Fishing Perch Queens Birth Day Pat came up alone him and I to Mr Harpers a Great Day in Cornwall The Highland Games for the Champions hip of the World Tarring and McLennan Toronto Lost the Bet of 1000 Dollars Got 5/- Cash from Pat Bought of Mifses Harper 1 pint Whiskey -/4 2 Candles -/3 1 Pipe paid this Antwine and parent came to Fish sold them a Bun got a Coat and shirt for it sold them Potatoes got 31 Hooks

25th ascension Day or Holy Thursday I went to Summerstown Bought yds B Ribbon 1/- paid this Bought Mr Harper 5/- worth of Flour
