8 Thursday. July 19th 1906 We hauled Eight loads hay. J.W. went to St Jacobs for mares. We had Joe McGrogan helping us today, at $100
8 Friday 20th Showery I went to town in morning also arranged with J. Fisk to cut our grain at 55c per acre we supply Twine & one horse went to got hardware at Penfolds 45c got Cap. 10c Men hauled hay till rain came on then chored sent $500 to Jos Thompson Sardis B.C. pd. Dr Savage $1200 pd Hamilton $1100 for Life Insurance for 3 mos. .10 .45 5.00 12.00 11.00
Saturday 21st fair We finished hoeing turnips & Cut around wheat field & I went to town bgt shoes $300 hardware. 40c p. sent $1500 to see McFarlane. recd bgt brushes $175 Foot Elm .25 paid Joe McGrogan $200 last night had W. McLean hoeing Turnips at 7 1/2 c per row. 3.50 .40 10.00 .25 1.75 2.00
Sunday 22nd hot & showery Mother Jennie & I went to Church in morning We Enjoyed a very practical sermon from Dr Henderson on Brethern Count it all Joy when ye fall into divers temptations. we all stayed at home the rest of the day
Monday 23rd {Hand writing from July 23, 1906 to August 24, 1906 is quite different with different spellings also e.g. Wednesday instead of James Bowman's usual "Wensday", and it may be that someone else maintained the diary while Mr. Bowman was out west} Started to-day for the West. Fisk cutting wheat.
Tuesday 24th. Finished cutting wheat & cut barley. Alex. Joe Mc- Johnnie chocking wheat.
