October Friday 1 1926
October started off fine with a nice day. Professor Steckley was here judging Guernseys with his judging class after dinner. Silo fillers came about five o'clock and got started to work.
Saturday 2
An ideal Autumn day. Silo fillers were busy here all day but I went on with my own work just the same. Alex and I did nearly all the milking at night as Jimmie had a date at 6.30. In town at night hunting up a plow for the matches and saw Jean for a few minutes. My Dads birthday.
Sunday 3
Home from milk route about 12.15. Mrs Birly was away so four of us had a bachelor's dinner. Busy afternoon working in dairy and helping with chores at night Took Jean up home with me for a few minutes and then as it was such a fine night we had a real nice long drive around two blocks.
October Monday 4 1926
Alex and Mr Telfer left with the truck and trailer and four cattle for the National Dairy show. about five o'clock. Went up stairs to go to bed at quarter to eight but wasn't too tired to read Jean's diary, which she gave me last night before I went to sleep. A wonderful book. Heavy rain during night.
Tuesday 5
Up at five sharp and through peddling in good time but as I called at the barber's and jeweller's I didn't get home extra early. Took almost 60 bushels of wheat to Taylors in afternoon with "Dollie & King" when I got them shod at Nichols. got a Verity No. 21 plow at O'Neals' and brought it home with me. Play practice at night.
Wednesday 6
A fair day for Burford show. Just as I was finishing peddling I saw the Barkers going to the fair and how I wished I were going along with Jean. Rather tired at night so went to {roost?} at good time.
