August Saturday 20 1927 Dan and I got in four loads of oats in the morning and made four trips after dinner and finished our harvest for 1927. We had 7 1/2 loads wheat, 1 load of barley, and 33 loads of oats. Had a nice shower of rain about 7.30 so none of us went to town. We are thankful to have all our grain in in such good shape. Had a nice bath and retired early. Mr. Wilson & wife and his sister called on us in afternoon. Sunday 21 Attended church in the morning home for dinner and then afterwards we all went over to Cousin Jims for afternoon and tea. Dark when we got home. Marge and Bob McCrow & Andy Lushman came down when we were just starting chores and we drove them home later on in the evening in the Dodge with Dan as chauffeur. Monday 22 Spent pratically all day getting grain ready for the show. Jean and I got the mail with car and had a little ride up home after the "flail". Had my first experience using it threshing barley after dinner. Mr. Watson came to look at the apples. August Tuesday 23 1927. Got the cows up early in the morning and then got my team ready, had breakfast and was back harrowing at 7.15. First morning I haven't help Jean milk or eaten breakfast with her since we were married. Bees attacked Fly so had to unhook. Spent rest of day preparing grain for the show. Rained considerable of the afternoon as Jean & I didn't go to "Bendemere" as we intended. Wednesday 24 After I finished my chores I spent the rest of the morning looking over oats for the C.N.E. and had Jean to help. Finished the oats and most of the barley in the afternoon. Drove up home at night after some oats. Cunninghams from Canning and Toronto were here while we were away. Thursday 25 Finished getting the grain and wool ready and then Jean and I shipped it. Drove the disc from 10.30 to noon. Moved the cattle from our pasture to another and harrowed in afternoon. Jean went up after Grandma & Aunt Amanda so they were here for tea. Mr Webster came with motors so we were unable to attend U.F.Y.P.O. meeting at Scotts.
