Sunday, January 10 10 DAYS PAST 355 TO COME Points on Anesthesia—No. 2. Some attention should be given the nose, throat and mouth. If there is a catarrhal condition it should be treated, for it will cause an excessive secretion during and after the anesthesia. During the operation it produces more irritation and the secretion causes difficult breathing and predisposes to the so-called ether pneumonia; afterward it will help to keep up the nausea. These cases should receive atropin before operation. The teeth should be cleaned and the nose and mouth treated antiseptically.—Hunt; Int. Journ. of Surg. Weather Warmer Temp.
