go over. I got Eph. Innus who is painting the school-house to mix up some of my white lead and oil and I started painting the house but didn't get much done. I walked down to band practice to-night at least I walked as far as the farm and got a ride from there with Mr. Cornish but I walked home again. They are getting ready for the big street Carnival on Wednesday and I went up after band practice to get some make up stuff from Harry Moon. Hot and sultry. Tuesday August 11th I didn't get up as early as usual this morning and Frank and Ina were both here before we were through breakfast. Frank brought the waggon over to borrow some of my plank to lay down on the barn floor for the seperator as they expected to thrash to-morrow but Alan came up to-day to tell them they had changed their plans and were going to trash their own oats out of the field before they moved out. I took 16 chicks out from the setting hens and put them in a coop and then helped Frank get the plank. We called in at Tupper's and got my ladder which has been there ever since I picked his apples two years ago. Frank & I then went down to get a load of soft coal for the engine. We had to go out along the pier after it and while trying to make Joe & Queen turn around out there Queen gave a ram back into a car and smashed the cracked end on the old waggon tongue. We backed the waggon up to the coal pile by hand and nailed some old slabs on the tongue so managed to get home without trouble. This after noon Dad. & I cocked the rest of the hay which Dad. raked up this morning and got a load in which we put over the horse stable. Frank spent the after noon fixing up the barn floor and granaries and changed the car from the barn to the horse stable. I rode Queen home tonight and drove Ina home after tea, and then let Queen out but as she headed straight for the line fence I was afraid to leave her so brought her back. She was opposed to being caught and as it was dark when I went after her I ran into the barbed wire fence myself while I was manoeuvering to catch her and cut my arm We sat up till about midnight for Marj. to get my costume completed and she made a horrible looking pirate out of me. Fine and much cooler
