We had a few delays. Robinson of "The Palms" invited us in there and treated us to all the 4 - 4 beer we could consume and we did our best to clean up some left over ice cream, pop. & buns. There wasn't a big gang wrecking a few of the band and a few others including Geo. Gamble, Al. Faulkner, Skinner and Shorty Patterson. I left when everything was done about half past four and as I thought there was no object in starting for home before daylight I lay down in the barn at Aunty's till then and had that much snooze, but I got home about six o'clock.
Friday August 14th
As soon as I got home I washed the make-up off had breakfast and milked and then drove over home to help thrash. They had started when I got there as it was a little after eight. Bob. Pickford and I carried away all day at last till they finished which was about three o'clock. There were about 225 bushels of wheat off the field back of the barn which would mean a yield of slightly over 40 bus. to the acre. The back field produced 180-odd bushels or about 20 to the acre but there was about 400 lbs of bluegrass seed from it There was not a particle of any thing but wheat in the front field. There were about 160 bushels of barley It was a pretty satisfactory thrashing and Dad. has a straw stack build higher than the barn. I don't know what he will do with the oat straw. Bob. Frank Tim and I went for a swim as soon as we finished and then Dad. and I put on a load of the loose straw around the bottom of the stack and I brought it home. Roy came over just as we got through and said he could take us to Simcoe in the morning. Fine & hot.
Saturday August 15th
I got up at five this morning to as to be ready when Roy called, and I had lots of time after I got ready to go down to the corner and get the cream can and sat for some little time under one of the maple trees on the road before they appeared. When they did come I found that the space reserved for me was what was left of the back seat after Enah & Vernon had sat on what they required which was considerable. However I sat several inches over on Enahs thigh and settled into place as we drove along. Dad. Roy & I went to Frank Reid's office directly and Dad. gave him a large budget of Mr. Park's
