cutter away. Mr. Thoms called and brought me a
letter from Laura, Mrs. Montgomery was buried today
in the churchyard.

Cold snap. Our Christmas tree passed off very well
quite a number of people were out. The Thomses &
Somersets were there,

colder tonight, Charlie went to Utterson to Hugh
Somerset’s shooting match, George drove in & brought
him home.

Sunday. Cold wind. G & C & I went to Church at
night. Minni Forrest is at home for a holiday.

New Year’s day. Fine & good sleighing, G. drove
Eva & ne in to Utterson. Charlie was skating on
the lake.
Children have all troublesome coughs.
Violet is getting whooping-cough now.
Baby is no
better.

We washed, Mr. & Mrs. & Ruth Thoms came to tea,
Mrs,. Forrest & Minni came in during the evening.

Woman’s Auxiliary in the afternoon I went but there
were not enough for a meeting. Good skating on the
lake.

G drove me & baby to Ball’s. Eva & Charlie went
skating,
I went to choir practise at night
Nice mild day splendid sleighing. G & Louie &
Violet & I drove to father’s,
got back to tea

where she is going to stay till Monday.

of others to Thomses in their sleigh & got home about
1 o’clock^
we had a pleasant evening

I saw Laura & Louie at Ladells & arranged to go on

I went to Church & played in the morning & stayed in
at night. G also stayed in with headache.
Fine & Bright & not too cold, Geo drove me & Louie
to Somersets to tea. we called at Galls, Got home
before ten.

Utterson with Geo & we waited at Will Brown/s till
he was ready.
Baby seems poorly tonight.

George, Kathleen & I are all poorly today. Fine & mild
G. stayed in bed till tea time. Wet night.

Wet all day. Connie Thoms is ill with slight inflammation
of the lungs.
Geo somewhat better. I have neuralgia
in my face. No choir practise. Miss Hutton called
to see if she could give up this school & go to Normal.
Frozen up but not cold. Trustees had a meeting to
see about Miss Hutton’s leaving. Concert in

go as Kathleen was sick with earache etc. G

the afternoon. The Somersets did not come as they were
not at Church & did not get my invitation, George T.
came for Louie in the evening.

back to tea.

A heavy soft snow fell all day.

A cold stormy day. Clara & I ventured out to Church
at night there were only a few there.

Very cold with wind, Clara could not get home.
& I went to Ladell’s after tea.

She

Coldest night 40° below, came out nice in the
afternoon.
G & C went to Gall’s sale & Clara walked
home. I took the children out for a walk.
Ash Wednesday, mild & snowy. G & I went to Hugh
Patterson ’s with sewing machine, we had service &
choir practise in evening.
Good news from the war. Ladysmith is relieved and
4000 Boors under Bronjie taken prisoners. Great
celebration throughout the British Empire. Blustery,
but not very cold.

The Galls did not come

Bright pleasant day. We went for a walk & I rode up
as far as Ladells in cutter. Mrs. Ladells’s ill
at Orillia, Geo drove Mr Brymer as far ©3 Bains

Stormy & cold. I did not go to Church at all as'
there was no track & my cough was too bad.

Nice day after cold night. Mrs. Boyd was buried.
Geo read the funeral service as Mr. Atkinson has gone
to Toronto, X went up to Ladells, Mr. Thoms was
here to tea. Commenced to get 1J qts milk at Watsons
Stormy again turned to rain
school is closed.

Good Friday. I went to Church with Eva very few there
Gloomy with snow.
George Keeps weak & poorly.

About an inch of fresh snow, but melted & cleared out,
fine in evening.
I went to see Mrs. & Miss Ladell.
Wnt to church for choir practise at night.
Easter Sunday,
Lovely fine day. The children & I
went to Church in the morning. George was not well
enough to go I stayed in at night with him.

Warmest day yet snow disappearing fast. We commenced
house cleaning by doing the pantry. Wall Thoms was
here to tea.

Gloomy but rain. Kept off tile night. We washed.

all night. I went to practise and went to Forrests

came to dinner & went to Church with us in the evening.

Quite a good turn out at W,A» meeting, Laura Somerset
came back with me & stayed till evening. Father was
here today also.

Turned cooler & we had a cold night.
G & I & some of the children went to

cow calved. Charlie got her & the calf in the
ds. Geo & I & Charlie drove to a Garden Party 4
at Johnsons & did not get home till 3.30 next morning
after a dark drive

Hot. Nellie came to see us on an excursion from the
Locks & I took the children to see the picnic.
Father came and got a load of lumber. After tea
we rowed all the children over to Thomses & Lucy*went
home and we got caught in the rain coming home,
