enough grub to feed them. I was {words obscured} to bring two pies. I told Marj. when I got home & she nearly woke up she was so mad at me for saying I would. I told them I would bring the pies but to heck with bringing the family. The wind which was north east this morning shifted to almost due south and it has been getting milder all day, but has been cloudy. When I started for town to-night the walking was good and it was quite bright moon-light but it started to snow soon afterwards and developed into a nasty storm of snow & rain so that the walking was quite bad coming home through the long grass, but it was bright moon-light and I had on my rubbers and socks so didn't get very wet. On my way over, as I got down towards the far end of Dad's back wheat stubble I heard a rustling in the grass and looking down saw the broad white strip of skunk's back. I side-stepped with alacrity and he went the other way so that fortunately there were no unpleasant results. Tuesday December 1st I spent nearly the whole day except for doing chores in softening putty and puttying up the storm windows and have part of one to do yet. I had to put a whole new pane in one of the windows. Ina was here washing and she washed the two windows that I got finished and I put them on to-night. I drove her home after tea. Cloudy milder Wednesday December 2nd It froze hard last night but has been a very nice day and is barely freezing to-night. I shook what few remaining apples there were on the trees down this morning while the ground was hard & picked them up. They have been frozen so many times that I don't know whether they will be much good for cider or not. I spent the rest of the day making a storm door for the dining room north door. I used the lumber I got for it a year ago and for some unknown reason it didn't match properly and I had a very trying time with it, finally I had to take my knife and whittle down the tongue so that it would fit. I put it to-gether in the doorway so as to be sure of it fitting when I got it made and now there is about half an inch space between it and one corner of the top of the door frame. I didn't have any hinges so I nailed it in place until I can get some I worked at it till nearly dark before I got the cross cleats on, and was all in to-night.
