with him to come out tomorrow afternoon and take her down town to do some shopping. She is feeling better. I didn't do much but chore around this after noon but I feel much better to-day. I walked over to Ollie Birdsel's sale about four o'clock as I wanted to bid on his hay but I met Dave Lampkin at the gate and he said everything was over, so I came right home again. I went late on purpose as I didn't want to stand around in the cold. I met young Dove with a load of gravel and he told me that Tupper had fired him because his father had waylaid and hit Albert Gurney last night because he the kid had complained to his father that Gurney had passed him on the road with a load and then thrown a stone at him because he kept yelling at him. The Robinson's came along as Dove left and said he was a little pest that Gurney had passed him on the road but hadn't thrown at him. Dove's poor old team's bones are just about poking through their skins at all points so it is time he quit. Cold and raw, tried to snow a little.

Dad. came out this morning to take Marj. to town as he thought if she waited till afternoon she would never get anything done so she had dinner down there and Dad. drove her home about three o'clock. Dad. had another cable last night from Mr. Parks himself reading "Don't worry. Send birth certificate, Toby's eldest boy." Not much in the way of elucidation but it looks as if things had not gone completely against us yet and also that there can be no decision till Harry B's certificate gets there. Dick is going to Toronto to-morrow and will send it Monday morning. Much milder, wind around in the south.
Sunday December 20th
I have felt a little better to-day but have done very little but sit around although I did go over to the school house and sweep. Marj. has grubbed around all day doing odd jobs around the house such as mopping off the kitchen floor. The coal out there makes things very dirty. We spoke of going over to the Lampkins but we didn't get around to it and it was a damp sort of day unfit to take the children out when they have been cooped up in the house so much. Neither of us spent a very Sabbath Sunday. It seems as if we seldom do anymore, we are retrograding
