October 1885

1 Roman Catholicks' had a pic nic in The Agricultural Grounds today A very large gathering All went off well until evening Cousin Donald and Walter Barret were driving up Warren St The horse shied at something and they were thrown out and were {picked?} up for dead Donie was taken here and is unconseous, he has a bad cut from his eye down on his nose. Bird got boots at Willies 1.60
2 Donie is better to day, his mother & Farquher Archy sat up with last night. he has no recollection of any thing after being thrown out To 1/2 lb tea ar Dan's 25
3 Donie went home todaty. Uncle Donald sent us 39 lbs pork. I bought 54 cts worth of beef 54
4 Murdy went to Montreal last night Pa gave him $.55.00 fifty five dollars. It is raining
5 Monday we began to pull the corn.
6 Jimie is trying to husk corn, he has a sore knee
7 Pa, Far, & Ran are digging potaotes. A number rotten .
8 Jimie went to the field this afternoon. Far went to a bee at Hugh McKenzies, both went to a dance at McKenzies'. Pa was with Brown and some others running a line between the 1st & 2nd concessions on our & Angus Neal's
9 Mariah McDonald, Peter, came to day to visit. To 1/2 tea 25
10 To beef 35 cts, got at Dan's sugar 25 cts blacking 5 65
11 Cold but bright. Rev. McQuary preached today did not go to Church
