Frank and I cultivated corn all day, we started to go twice in a row but made such little headway that we knew we wouldn't get over all of it so went once in a row. e also wemt up between the potatoes rows, they are coming clowly but the grass is bad in them and they need howing. I am afraid our mangel crop is a failure, it looks as if the seed was no good.

Dad started to cut the new meadow this siode of the gully where the wheat was last year, he only started to cut a part of it which, was west of the old garden but didn't get it quite doen. One of the sections of the blade got loose this orning, and he was delayed quite awhile fixing it, then at noon we sharpened the other knofe. Lila has spent thew whole day going back and forth from the house to the fields, watching her chanve to drive the horses or hold the cultivator, she wanted to go home to-night as to-morrow is her music lesson day. but Aunty thoiught she would be too tied so

just missed the first piece. I came home with Dick. Very cool and breezy. They got their smoke stack up to-night at the canning factory.
