Instead of fixing fence this morning as we intended Dad. & Frank worked all. orning cleaning out the woodshed while I weeded out the rose bed and got it looking much better. This after noon Aunty 7 Aunty Alice came over and we all except Enah went back to the woods for awhile. They intended to go back down town after tea but it rained so hard they had to stay here all. night. I got a leyter from Ottawa to-day with a copy of the Canada Gazette enclosed with a law marked in t prohibiting the importation of chestnut trees from the States and saying that I weould have to wither export it back or destreoy it. I was naturally pretty mad about it as I rtjought they should havenever let it cross the line and not sent it up here and let me pay duty on it and got it all set out, however I wrote them a nice letter askingthem to let me keep it if possible. It has been a lovely day but rained to-night.
