Enah drove Marj. down and she left on the 4.30 for Toronto where she is going to visit the Garrie's & Clara for a week. Frabk and I stopped at the Canning Factory and got the seed corn Frank contracted for and then we got the rest of the corn stalks at Uncle Ward's. It was chore time when wwe got home. I went donw to band prqactice to-nigjht. Ada was no better this morning and they were very anxious about g=her but she wass better to-nigjht. Dr. Hicks wa sdown to concult with Dr. Cook and trhey decided an operation was not necessary now. Frank Smith and Manning were over this morning and got me to go over to Jack Martin's with them to ask them him to be toast master at the Father & Son banquet Thursday night. He said he couldn't. He collared me and wanted me to act as Vestry clerk and keep the cburch books for Barwell. I told him I didn't know anything about keeping books but he si=uggested that marj. do that. I told hom that Marj, and ~I had enough Sunday school work on our hands to take up all our spare time a d that foer the church's sake it would be far better to get some one else interested., but he wouldn't take no for an answer and told me how they wree getting thern church affairs on a business basis, which i hate and that they woulkd pay me fifty dollars a year I told him if I did it at all I would do it for the dsake of the church not for pay, which I think disappoinyte dhis busdiness mind.
