Sunday October 23rd
I got up before five this morning and came home and did up the chores. Marj. stayed at Auntys for breakfast. As there was children's service in church to-day there was no regular Sunday school but they all met there and went over to the church. The choir consisted of children and Nancy Dyer sang a solo. Bill Barwell read the lesson and a couple of boys took up the collection In the midst of it Mr. Cornish christened Bill. Wamsley's baby. Marj. and I stayed at Aunty's for dinner to help celebrate Quint's birthday. Quint was there and had half a dozen very gaudy Cupie dolls with which he decorated the sideboard much to Aunty Alice's horror. He played his phonograph for us most of the after noon. We came home fairly early so as to get the chores done and let Dad. get away to attend church with the masons as they all went in a body to-night. Cecil and Winnie were over here to tea and spent the evening but left before Dad. & Enah got home. They went up to Doc. Lemmons to practice some song for the reception they are giving Mr. Cornish Tuesday night.
Monday October 24th
I started to dig potatoes this morning but about ten o'clock Dad. came out with the mower and wanted to trade jobs so I cut clover seed for the rest of the day and got the piece south of the mangels cut. Our old mower is pretty rattly and Frank had it wired up but it seemed to be getting looser so at noon we took it up and Dad. went down and borrowed {Proper's?} It went better although it had a broken section in it. Dad. got over two rows of potatoes dug but didn't pick them up as it doesn't feel like frost to-night. Marj. went down with the church money this after noon and stayed at Aunty's for tea and then went to the girls meeting I went down after tea and charted {Andrew?} Lows and then went to band practice. Nice day
