| − | I took Aunty home | + | I took Aunty back home first thing this morning after breakfast as Aunty Alice came home on the 11 o'clock car and Aunty wanted to have the house warmed up when she got home. When I got home Dad. and I put off the load of clover seed that was on the barn floor and went out and got a small load of corn stalks. We gathered up all the loose ones and a couple of shocks that were down. We put them off before dinner. This after noon Dad went out and bunched up what was left of the clover seed. I helped him as soon as I got the chores done. We went out about four o'clock to load it. We cleared the field but it took a lot of running around and we didn't get in till nearly six. Marj. & Enah went down town this after noon and Marj. intended going to Miss McQueens sale but there was such a crowd she didn't go. I went down to a Tuxis meeting to-night and we initiated Andrew Lowe. I then went up to Harry Dyer's and got my hair cut. They say the mill (Penman's) is going to close for an indefinite time for lack of orders, so the shadow of events that destroys the world intrude even here. Business all over is in a chaotic state and it looks as though the world was in for hard times this winter. |
