Wednesday January 28th
Last night was the coldest yet some reports say it dropped to 14° below, and it has been cold all day although sunny The wind has been north east and east but to-night is swinging more to the south so I suppose will be warmer to-morrow. Marj. expected Ina to come to-day but she didn't show up. She was ready for her yesterday but wasn't surprised that she didn't come, but to-day was a {illegible} day except for the cold. I didn't do much all morning but chores but this after noon Marj. wanted some fresh air so we drove down town. The bread she made yesterday she decided wasn't fit to eat so we got a loaf down town and she set again to-night We left our {kids?} at the farm with Enah while we went down town. We called in at Aunty's for awhile and form {illegible}. She & Aunty Alice are quite confident that there will be something come of our fortune hopes. Aunty handed up a lot of papers and Aunty Alice drafted a couple of letters for Dad. & Huby to write giving a lot of information about the family and proof that they are the ones who are called for in the advertisement. Aunty Alice is going to help Quint write a letter to Archie Phipps asking him to make inquiries and give credentials for the family.
