| − | A wild storm raged all the early part of last night and the wind was still strong and cold this morning with a drizzling rain for part of the time, it has been cloudy and raw all day. I walked down through their gully to the road when I first went out this morning and at that time there was very little water except in the channel of the creek which was high, but judging by appearances more water went through the gully last night that's at anytime so far this Spring. Five of my pine logs had floated off the place, two of them were just inside Dave's fence, two down near the culvert and one down in Shanbs's woods. The road in front of Dave's gate was washed bare off gravel and worse than that a regular canal had been cut along the east side eof the track making the road really dangerous. To-day's paper told of a terrible tornado which swept through several of the mid western States including Indianna & Illinois causing great loss of lig=fe & property. watch her as Aunty Alice was going up town. I went in to see Marj. for awhile and then went on up town and got my hair cut. I told Ina I would try to meet her at the Winding Hill at five o'clock but as I went around by the farm and the roads that way are so bad I didn't get home till nearly six. Just as Gay. and I started for home it began to rain and got colder so Dad. let me have his mackinaw. It turned out to be a very rough night with high wind and a terriffic downpour. Dad. & Frank hooked up Pommers & George to the big waggon & rack this morning and I don't know what all happened but they got away and tore out two or three fence posts in front of the house ran in to the corner of the house broke the tongue, reach, rack and the end off the double-tree and finally wound up over in Martin's field. Dad. got a nasty cut on his thumb but otherwise was not hurt. In order to tame the horses down a little, this after noon they hooked them to the bob-sleighs which they dragged out here through the mud and then got the waggon and went down after silage.
