| − | As it was frozen this morning I thought I could get out a few more loads of manure but the sun soon got up strong and although I got two loads out the ground was too soft and the waggon cut in badly so I quit. I heard an engine going over in Willie Shand's woods so walked over to investigate and found Willie Shand, Will Cruise, Tom Aiken & Tom Stone doing a great business sawing wood with the saw frame outfit that Willie Shand & Will Cruise bought from Frank Shearer for fifty dollars. The two Willies were running the machine and the Tom's were skidding the logs. see no mention made of Bedford so suppose Roy & his family were not so near the devastated area which seems to have been a very narrow strip. I didn't do much but chores this forenoon and went over to the Lampkin's for a little while this after noon. I drove down town quite late in the afternoon and went to see Marj. for a short time and then went over to Billy Lang's shop and got a bag of oat chop from Jack who is at the shop every night after five.
