Tom. came over this morning to tell me he couldn't come on this fore noon as he had some work to do at his bridge. I attempted to paint my name on the mail-box but it was too cold so I quit. I took my shovel and new handle over to Evan's for him to put the handle in for me, but found he was sick in bed with bronchitis. I walked on over home and found Dad. & Frank giving the sorel filly the rudiments of education. They had a rope around her neck and were trying to get her into a stall to {tap?} her but she was determined not to go. She wrestled & tussled with the rope for about an hour reared pawed and threw herself and got in a steaming lather and finaly got quite quiet. Harry B and I had a great visit and he didn't want me to come away but I came home for dinner. This after noon Tom. & I scraped a ditch along north of the lane and scraped some of the gravel that washed off back on the flats. Just about quitting time a man came along and got Tom to go and haul a big truck out of the back field. East wind but sunny

Tom and I put in the forenoon on the road cleaning out the mouth of the culvert that runs from Art Quanbury's woods into Dad's little gully and aslo scraping a ditch just north of the gully gate where the rtr=uck got in last night. We inytended ditching the east sode of the big hill this afternoon but it began to rain just after dinnewr and by the time we got down tere was raining quite hard so we left Tom's plough at Evan's to have the coulter sharpened and cam ehome. I packed 12 dozen eggs in the crate for Dorrie. I just had enough with to-day's gathering to fill it and have been saving since Saturday. About fou r I took them down and shipped them. I picked Frank up down town and  he went to the station with me. I stoppe din to see Marj. and she seems to be getting on all right. She was up out of bed twice to-day and o Friday if it is fone hopes to go over to Aunty's. Aunty Alice had a letter from Cousin Carrie enclosing one from Winnie Barrett (Anderson) who has been corresponding with the English lawyers and foundout than a man is comong out. She evidemntly hasd renewedhopes of the fund being divided up, and Coucin Carrie appears provoked at her writing all about it to her and not to Dad. Cold east wind all day drizzling too-nihgt.
