seed. I didn't know whether the drill was sowing to thick or whether there was more than 2 1/2 acres in the field so this morning I measured the field and found it was a scant 2 1/2 acres. The drill had nearly a bag of seed in it so I thought by shutting it down I could make it go over the field but it ran out when I just had about 2 rounds more to go, so I will have to leave that much till next week and get some more seed. I harrowed over what I had sowed and ran out the one long ditch & its one tributary. I had Dave's roller & harrows borrowed. Tuesday morning I went down to Sid's to have Queen shod as it rained a little Monday night and I thought was too wet to work on the land. Sid couldn't shoe her then as he was just starting out to post up Mrs. Marshall's sale bills so I drove out to Mattias Shiltz's to inquire about a girl that I heard was out there and that he was going to let go, but she was already spoken for. Ina came Wednesday to wash and Wednesday we got word from the Barnardo Home saying they had no girl available at present but advised us to send in an aplication to-gether with a fee of $3.00 and they would send one as soon as possible. Marj. filled up the application form but as we didn't have the $3.00 we didn't send it and to-day Mr. Carter telephoned down that there was an exceptionally bright looking Armenian girl 17 years old in Simcoe would go out for $3.00 a week, so I am to go up on Tuesday next to interview her. Marj. has got on very well all week with just the baby to look after. Gay has been good down at Aunty's, we went down town to-day and saw her. I brought Harry B over yesterday for Marj. to fit a coat on him that she was making and he is still here. Marj. thinks she can manage him now. Oliver Mann came over Tuesday afternoon and took down his radio aerial. I drove him back as I was going down to get some oat chop for the horses. Wednesday night I went down to band practice but got fooled again as there wasn't any. We have been watching the papers all week for the arrival of the Mont Royal which is supposed to have aboard her Mr. Parks and the news of the fortune. Dad. had a very nice personal handwritten letter from him this week saying he expected to sail on the 9th and would telegraph when he would arrive in Dover. The boat will dock at St. John and he said he would likely travel in the daytime as he wants to see the country
