letters to peruse in which he was deeply interested & amused at the points where Mr. Park's personality displayed itself. He of course had no advice to offer but said that as far as anyone could see, prospects were very good. Enah & Vernon spent the time shopping, and Vernon picked out a set of dishes for Aunty & Aunty Alice which Roy had to pass on & pay for and arrange for delivery after we left Frank Reid's with the consequence that we didn't get away from Simcoe till about one o'clock much to Roy's discomfort as he had promised Aunty Alice to be back by half past twelve. Dad. got off here with me and had dinner after which he helped me put the load of straw off and I went back home with him and took the waggon back and drove home in my buggy. Marston was in just after dinner and said he wanted me to get some gravel on the roads and cut the weeds so I saw Joe Breen to-night and he said he would start cutting weeds on Monday. Hot.

Sunday August 16th

Marj. & Harry B. drove down to church this morning but Harry B. had a sore throat and felt so tough that Marj. had to take him out of church. They went to the doctor's after service and got some medicine. They stayed at Aunty's for dinner and Frank drove them home about three o'clock. Harry B. seemed very much indisposed when he got home but had not been lying on the sofa long when he was kicking up his heels and seemed quite recovered. I just lay around all day, the baby slept nearly all the time Marj. was gone, and Gay. from the time she left till about one when I gave her, her dinner, the baby woke up then too but before I got the water hot to give her, her bottle, she was asleep again so I let her go. I didn't milk till after sundown to-night as it was so unbearably hot & sultry. Frank told me & then Carl. Coleman came out to-night while I was seperating to tell me to be ready to-morrow night and Carl. & Frankie Lemmons would call for me to go to Jarvis as all the band was going down to a Carnival they are having down there. Looks very like rain.
