to the trip and Charlie took them down. I was over there telling them to watch for Charlie when Harvey & Mrs. Evans brought poor old Dove home, he went over there this morning to help them haul in oats & had worked all day and to-night fell off a load and struck his head & shoulders on the ground. He was badly shaken up and frightened and so was Mrs. Lampkins when she saw him. I spent a pleasant evening with the baby as she wouldn't sleep. I don't think there was any thing the matter with her but I had her up most of the time Marj. was away. Very hot & close all day, but much cooler to-night.

Thursday August 27th

Harry B. and I drove over home this morning and we hauled oats all day with two waggons as Cole was there and we got in 8 loads. We cleaned the back field in 6 and got a couple in off the field east of the old garden. Aunty, Aunty Alice & Phoebe were over there for dinner & tea and we stayed to tea. Dad. said he was very glad he went to Toronto yesterday as they all seemed so glad to see him. They all told him that a letter Aunty had written was the means of toning them all up. N.E. wind & cold.

Friday August 28th

We hauled oats all day with two waggons and cleaned the field east of the garden, there were 8 loads on it and we burned about a load that was principaly thistles. We got 3 loads in off the field west of the lane. I rode Queen home to-night and home after tea rode her down to a Horticultural meeting at which they decided to hold the Fair on the 14 & 15th of September. Fine & cool. Marj. had a visit from Mrs. Cam. McBride and picked about a bushel of beautiful looking crab apples.

Saturday August 29th

Harry B and I drove over to the farm this morning and got there just as they had the two last loads that were hauled last night pitched off. The boys helped them put them off. We got in four loads before dinner and I helped them put on two more after dinner and then I came home and got Marj. Gay & the baby and we went down town to do our trading. Enah & Harry B went down to see the deer and we picked him up on our way home after dark. There was one more load of oats out when I left but they got it in. I think that makes 32 loads in the barn and they would average good loads. Much warmer fine.
