to set at all before the next is put on it will cause a crack in the wall and will leak. We just nicely got started to work when it started to rain and the harder we worked the harder it rained, but we stayed with it and finished a little after twelve. Ot had his boy with him so there were four of us to mix grout and Ot to tramp it in and put in the reinforcements while Dad & the boys were running in a batch Frank and I were carrying gravel & cement for the next one. We just mixed one bag at a time and it took 16 bags. We had the drivehouse door for a mixing board and as it sagged in the center it made a good one. We all got soaked of course but Dad & I didn't have coats on so we got an extra soaking and we had to work like niggers to keep from getting very cold: so to-night I feel pretty stiff. We went in the house, built a fire and changed our clothes as soon as we finished and Frank got dinner as Enah was down judging at the flower show. It stopped raining for awhile about the middle of the after noon and I came home about four. Marj. has had a busy day with Harry B & the baby sick, but the baby is better to-night. I should have gone down to the show to look after my stuff to-night but as it was raining about seven o'clock and was so dark & muddy and I felt so tough I didn't go, but we all went to bed as soon as possible

Wednesday September 16th

I went down to the rink this morning to see what had happened to my exhibits and discovered that due to lack of competition more than excellence I had got second prize on my crab apples and one on my water-melon, 60 cts for each. I got nothing on my squash but I sold two to Jack King for 50 cts and left four at Sam Schram's for him to sell if he could and gave a couple to Mr. Bagley. I also gave my pears to Mrs. McBride I had to deliver my crab apples to Landon Ivey's and Uncle Ward got me to take some grapes of his to Cecil Schram and Harry Ivey. They then collared me to help load benchs and tables and take them back from where they had been borrowed some to the town hall and some to Buck's Park, so that it was about two o'clock when I got home to dinner and this after noon I drove up to {Schoffs?} and got the time of the team hauling gravel for 2 weeks The baby doesn't seem to be just right yet and as there is an epidemic of her complaint and Cam. Culvers lost their baby Marj. is still worried. Very cloudy all day clearing this evening.
