I levelled down more earth this morning but we had an early dinner and all went down town {word covered over} after noon. Marj. wanted to take Harry B to the {do}ctor again for him to look at his throat and she wanted to get some groceries. We were disappointed again though in seeing the doctor as he was away and we entirely forgot the fact that this was Dover's civic holiday, so all the stores were closed. Marj. was able {to} get into the drug-store and Billy Langs, who thinks that {an}other holiday this time of year after all the holidays there {ha}ve been during the summer is a farce. We went down to {word covered over} for awhile and came home about four. Fine but cold wind.

It has been cloudy and threatening rain all day but it didn't do much more than sprinkle every now and then till to-night when it rained hard. We decided we had betteer put the box-store up as Aunty 7 Aunty SAlice are coming out to-morrow if it is fine, so as Marj. wanted to trim the edges of the fining room oil-cloth and turn it around, we had tea in that room all up and neither of is got much else done except working in there, and but we gotr the stove up nand the dining toom house cleaned,m, and I killed a chicken and went down to the corner for the cream-can

the gully. It was after noon before we got back and I let the cows out. They didn't come near the orchard all after noon. I sat around and read Herbert Spencer all the remainder of the day and didn't go to sleep in spite of the lack of moisture in my reading matter I felt rather tough around noon so Marj. didnt have dinner and we had a combination meal about four after which I felt better, shaved & milked. Cloudy & cold all day. Raining hard to-night.
