I went out this morning to examine the pumpkins and squash and as far as I can tell they are not injured I brought them up to the house after dinner in the waggon and Marj. & I carried them into the house to-night. I hooked up the team after dinner and went down and got a couple of parcels at the station that had come for Marj. from Eaton's. I also got some lumber to board up the back porch. It is Marj's idea and she is footing the bill. Tim went down with me to watch the horses while I was in the station. It is milder to-night as the wind has gone down but it is freezing a little.

Sunday October 11th

It must have turned milder during the night as there was no sign of frost this morning. It has been cloudy with a raw wind all day and rain this afternoon Harry B. and I drove down this morning to take Mrs. Williams 3 doz. eggs. We just got there as she was leaving to catch the one car. She is so impressed with the real or imaginary quality of our eggs that she wants me to send her 12 dozen right away to Buffalo. I haven't done any thing else all day but read & do chores. Marj. feels quite miserable to-night with a pain in her "infernal regions."

Monday October 12th

Dug potatoes this moerning and was disappointed at the turn out of the first row, but I am quite sure the rest of the patch will be better. I only got a little more than half a bushel. This after noon I had to go to Schoffs tio get the road time and as it seemed to be a breautiful fore-noon I persuaded Marj. to come too, but it cliyde dup soon after dinner and the rain wind was cold, so however none of them seemed to mind it much.I dripped Marj., and the children odff at the Smythe's while I wen ton up to Schoff's and I stopped in for a short time at the {Name} on. y way back. Mrs. Smythe seemed overjoyed to see me an dinvited us up a week from Sunday. Dave. Scholl {wasn't} ome so i didn't get my time but he ios going to bring it {word obscured} We came home through town by the Radical Road & st{opped} at Aunty's fr a dfew minutes getting home about five and pickje dup the potatoes I had dug. I walke din to town to-night to hear Mr. Stansell the Consertvative member in the klast house fior Elgin and the nominee for the new ridign of Norfolf County & Elgin. Frank and I stoppe din at SAuntys on our way home and Bill Barwell drove s home. Mrs Barwell & Miss Cope were there playing brudge with Aunty A{lice} 7 Quint and Bill came to get them so took us too.
