Marj. and I both got up early this morning and had breakfast at seven o'clock I did all the chores by lantern light and struck out for Lindsay's bridge about half past seven. The sun was just rising as I walked up the road and I have seldom seen a prettier sun-rise. The sun itself only appeared for a few minutes and then disappeared, a dull lustreless crimson globe, behind dense clouds, but the sky above this cloud mass was beautifully and delicately tinted and against this floated several slender graceful clouds long and yet not mere streaks. There was a fine sort of half mist & half drizzle at this time and it was certainly not a promising looking sunrise.

I was back at the bridge for some little time before anyone else came but finally Tom Stone, his man an dteam came along. Tom had charge of the signal lanterns on the barricade and when he got hem tended to w e started in to fill along the bottom of the culvert. Pretty soon ArtQuanbury came and said Tuppe rhad commisioned hoim to boss the job and his idea was to use thw teams and scraers ans scrape thew reae=rth to the top of the excavation and shovel it down after a little argument between him and Tom we started on Arts scheme and worked till tewn o';clock, by that
