Wednesday December 16th

Marj. felt rather tough this morning and I was in helping her wash dishes when about eleven o'clock we heard a roaring and on looking out saw Dick, Quint & Frank arriving in Quint's old car Frank had the names of the French Canadians who had got the ram lambs so he and I had to fill out some registration and transfer papers and Quint and Dick went out and started to saw up lumber for the wood shed. Frank went over to Bill Sidway's with his sheep paper and expected to have dinner over there and Quint and I put the two sides of the shed to-gether. It is going to be very small 8 x 10' but Quint made it to fit the lumber and he couldn't find any scantling around the place longer than 10 feet. He is a whale to work when he gets started and doesn't waste any time. He and Dick had promised to go back to the farm for dinner, but Quint came out again about two and we put it up but didn't have enough stuff for rafters so just laid boards across the plates and Quint said he would get some stuff for rafters and bring them out. He went back about four and I did up the chores, feeling no better for being out, as my cough seems to be pretty bad still and I feel rather tough. Very cloudy & still quite cold.

Thursday December 17th

I haven't done any thing to-day but chores inside and out and go up to Shand's to telephone for the doctor. Marj. felt about all in and as I didn't feel like going to town and didn't know what on earth we would do if she got got right down and out, I thought that was the best thing to do. He came out about two o'clock and gave her some pills and cough medicine for both of us and I think she feels better to-night. My cough is still pretty bad. Brighter to-day but cold wind

Friday December 18th

Frank came over this fore noon to see how we were as Dr. Cook had told some of them he had been out. Frank also came out to tell us that they had a cablegram last night signed "Whites" instead of "Parks" and reading "Case partly heard, adjusted on particular question. Sorry for delay." None of us know just what it means except that it is not "Cheerio" nor will we know until we get a letter from Mr. Parks in about two weeks. I got Frank to help me cut down a big elm that shows signs of decay. It was down in the flats and it took quite a little sawing. I got rather tuckered as it is the first work I have done. Frank helped me saw up several of the limbs before he went home for dinner. Marj. arranged
