was a beastly rotten trick as it was of no interest to him or his clients and no one else had thought of it at all. The judge said that it was a bombshell thrown in to what he thought was going to be a very simple matter. That explains Mr. Parks cable where he suggests meeting Dad. in New York as he wanted to meet Dad. there and consult with Aunt Hattie and try to come to some amicable agreement with her. He says he doubts very much if she would succeed if she did contest Dad's claim so I don't suppose they will have much trouble over there. Dick is going to cable Mr. Parks to-night saying that Dad. is willing to meet him in New York when ever he comes. I didn't attempt to go to the mill but Dad. gave me a bag of chop and I took one of the bags of oats that Frank had bagged up for me. I agreed to buy $15.00 worth of oats from him and to pay him when McEwen sends the money for the ram lambs. He doesn't seem to consider that I should have any oats coming to me for the part I took in the harvesting of them although I pitched every sheaf of them and helped thrash them. I didn't put it up to him but hoped he would see it. He seems to think it all right for Dad. to supply me out of his share in spite of the fact that Dad. has let me have about $200.00 this year and that according to their agreement Frank was to stand crop expenses. Mrs. Lampkin was over this afternoon and invited us all over for New Year's dinner.

Thursday December 31st

Marj. had to go down to the doctor's to-day for some special treatment so we all went down for dinnwe. We didn't know we were so late leaving but when we got down to Aunty's we found they had given us up and started dinner. Quint and Dick were biththere. Marj. wemt up town soon after dnner and Dick and Frank Quint went up for the mail but I just sat around the house all the after noon. Dad. came down after he got Ade's letter and with a copy of our marriage register which was about as full of wrrors asit was possible to be. He went up to McGow McDonalds to swear that his name was W.H. instead of J.B. but McDonald was out of town. We calle din at the farm on our way home and Enah gave Gay a little set of furs which she got from Clare Herring when she, Dick & Frank Quint went to Hamilton on Monday to see Eugernia. Marj. and I sat up to-night and saw the old year out and the New Year in and well in. It was not a remeditated vigil but wehave fallen into the habit of late of sitting around our Pokohintas Christmas present and dozing the first part of the evening and then waking up late to give the baby her last bottle and being so wide awake that we dodn't feel like going to bed. There is a dance and nightwatch service in town to-nigjt. Frank woll take in. ith and the whole family was goimf dpwn to Pickfrd's for the eveneing & the to church.
