Tuesday January 5th

I went down to Sid's this morning and had Queen shod. She was badly in need of it and I thought that when it froze up after this thaw I wouldn't be able to get out with her if she wasn't sharp. I didn't get down there till nearly ten o'clock and Sid had 12 shoes to put on so I was going to come home again, but Harvey Shand & Jack Richardson who had the horses there said that they were not in a hurry and if I wanted to get back before noon would wait so Queen got shod first and I got home before dinner. Marj. had to go to the doctors again so as Ina was here we left Gay & the baby with her and took Harry B. with us. We sneaked off while Gay was asleep so there was no trouble from that quarter. I drove Ina home when we got back. It has been mild all day but very windy & colder to-night.

Wednesday January 6th

I spent most of the day finishing and hanging the storm door for the porch and helping Marj. around the house. I had to put the glass in the door and I made an "amateurish" as Mr. Bagley would say looking job of it, however it breaks the draught from the kitchen door and that is the main thing. Froze hard last night and has been blustery to-day.

Thursday January 7th

I went over to-day to get some oat chop and I took old Nellie over to the farm with me as Dad said she ight as well ber running around the stack over there when she wasn't milkking. I found Frank cutting up pigs and Dad. was down town getting his declaratin regarding our marriage cerificate fixed up before McDinald who just got home. I hooked up ~Josie 7 old Charlie to the a=waggon & Frank helped me throw on four bags of oats which I took down to the mill before dinner and then went back and ha ddinner at the farm. Dad. stayed down toewn for dinner. I went dow town after dinner nad got five bunche sof shingles for thew wood shed and a bag of flour and one of corn at Bill Lang's and went around by Main street to the mill where I got my grust. IU stopped in at Aunty's for a few minutes. Dad. came out home with me andtook thew team back. Frank cut up three of the pigs to-day after watching Dad. cut one and yesterday. I brought home a lot of spare ribs & backbone from "our pig". They told me down town that the band was to serencad rthe Council tonight and the W&I were going to give us all a feed in the hall, so I walked in across the fields. We had a bang up supper and played a little but that was all therewas to it, except for each member of the council on being called on for
