Saturday January 9th | Saturday January 9th | ||
| − | It snowed all night by the looks of things for this | + | It snowed all night by the looks of things for this morning every thing was covered not only outdoors but in the porch & the barn and where ever the east wind could penetrate. It snowed most of the morning but hasn't been a bad day. I thought of going down to Archie Long's farm to look at some cheap hay he has stacked but as it snowed so much I didn't go. I spent the fore noon doing odd jobs and sweeping paths, and helping Marj. wash some flannels which is a terribly particular job, and requires a vast ammount of knowledge & experience. Marj. supplies that part all I do is run the squsher. We sat around for an hour or two after dinner readin Bleak House and then I went over and swept the school house and swept the snow off the steps as I thought if it should get a little soft and then stick to the cement I would have a bad job. I was over there till nearly dark. |

Marj. wanted to take the kids out for an airing as it was a nice sunny day but there was a cold west wind and she hadn't the energy to bundle them up so we put them all to sleep instead & Harry B. went out to-night to help me do chores. | ||

| + | I spent the fore noon "and then some" helping Marj. wash although it snowed all day and she couldn't hang them out. We sat around reading for awhile after dinner so I didn't get anything but chores done outside. There isn't much else to do anyway. Marj's Eaton order came this after noon and I now have a new pair of heavy rubbers which just set me back $2.29, my old ones are gone in the sole. I also got a diary blank book for this year. Windy. | ||

| + | I have been to Archie Long's this morning to look at his hay stack. I didn't get startted till about eleven as Queen and Belle gogot out of the stablke and I had to cha them all over the place twp or three times before I could catch them. I ran across young fat-head Steele down in the Lampkin's flats. I thought he was hunting jacks but at the time I a=saw him he was hinting thwe rest of his pals, and seemed very distressed that he couldn't fnd them. There no body around Archie Long's ehen I got there and no tractor | ||
