got what we called a load, and started for home. Except for taking out a gate post all went well till we got to Black Creek bridge which was bare of snow and when the sleigh runners struck a cement piece just at the end of the plank floor of the bridge they stuck fast and the team couldn't budge them. We started to carry snow in our arms to throw under the runners but Auson Abbott saw us and brought a shovel down and got a rail and lifted the front runners so that we could throw snow under but when Frank tried them again he broke the doubletree, so then Auson and Cecil went up to the house and got another set that couldn't be broken and with them we pulled on to the plank where she slid all right. We got home without any more mishaps about three o'clock by the right time Marj. had had dinner ready for us at one and had just about given us up, but the wait hadn't hurt the dinner any and it had done wonders for our appetites. We had the roast of beef that Aunty Alice gave us. We put the load off after dinner and Frank & Cecil went back alone with the team as I thought I would be so late by the time I went over home & back. It was mild & inclined to snow this morning but cleared off and was colder this after noon with a westerly gale to-night

Tuesday February 16th

I walked over home this morning and got Queen & the cutter. I called in at the Lampkin's on my way and they asked me to get them some raw oil down town for their cow. They also invited us over there to-night as the Shands & Evans are to be there and make some music. I sat in the house at home for a few minutes. Dad. is feeling better. He had two teeth out yesterday and intends having some more out right away. The dentist told him they should all come out. It was about half past eleven by the time I got down town. I got a bag of bran at Billy Laings and then before I came home I drove down to Anson Abbott's and returned his doubletrees, so it was after noon when I got home. Right after dinner Marj. Harry B & I drove down town again. Ina was here so we left Gay who fell asleep at the dinner table with her as well as the baby. We left Harry B at the farm. Marj. and I both went to the dentist's and I had a tooth out. It was the one that Dr. Lemmons was treating & Dr. McLaughlin was going to fill it to-day but there had been a gumboil on it so he decided it had better come out.
