Monday March 29th

I went over to Willie Shands this morning and spoke for some eggs to set. He thought they could let me have 20 doz. by a week from Thursday. Ina thinks they could save 15 doz. and we should have 15 doz. of our own and I saw Art Quanbury this after noon and he thinks he could let me have 15 doz. I still want 15 doz to make up to 80. Marj. & I drove down town this after noon and took Harry B leaving the other two with Ina. Marj. wanted to get some wallpaper & muresed {Muresco} to prepare for house cleaning next week. I saw W. J. Thompson down town who informed me that he heard I was going to join the Masons. I said I didn't know anything about it and he said Jack King had my application all ready for me to sign. I said something about joining to Dr. McLaughlin and I suppose he has suggested me for a prospect. I told W. J. I couldn't join as I didn't have money enough to buy tobacco whereat he produced a package and invited me to fill my pipe. I drove Ina home before tea and this evening walked down to band practice. Dad. & Enah were at Aunty's when I went in there after band practice, they having been at church and Huby & Quint were at Aunty's playing bridge with Aunty Alice and Dick. Dad. had another letter from Mr. Parks saying that he had consulted Mr. Manning and he had agreed that they give Gavin Simmonds till the 13th of April when court opens after the Easter holidays to prove the birth of Mrs. Dicks son and then apply to the judge for a hearing. Mr. Manning stipulated that they ask the judge to permit them to cross-question any witness Simmonds produces and if the judge wants to delay the case till he gets more evidence to have him argue the name & arms clause anyway so that if Dad. is the heir at law and not Harry B. he can collect his ground rents right away on the real estate. Froze hard nice day.

Tuesday March 30th

I took the 30 doz. egg crate that I borrowed from Chris over to Willie Shands this morning and didnt do much but chores the rest of the forenoon. I sat around for awhile after dinner and then went down to Roy Hammonds to see about eggs but as I ran into Cam. Harvey Evans & Herb Law at the corner I didn't get down to Roy's till about four. Wilbur was there watching Roy tear paper off the parlour wall and I sat there and talked to them for some
