Easter Sunday April 4th

Aunty Alice was very anxious to have us go to church to-day but Marj. felt too miserable to go out or to have me go and leave her alone with the kids so we all stayed home and put in a quiet day. This after noon Harry B. and I drove over home as I wanted to make arrangements to go for hay to-morrow I am right out. We got the milk on our way home. Cloudy & raw inclined to drizzle.

Monday April 5th

The ground was white with snow this morning and it snowed a heavy wet snow all forenoon but cleared up and got colder this afternoon. I drove over to the farm this morning and took Harry B. as he is going to stay there during the Easter holidays. We didn't start after the hay till after dinner when it had stopped storming. We took Queen & old Charlie and the iron wheeled waggon and the road between Wilbur Ryerse's and the cheese factory was so heavy it was all they could do to pull the empty rack so could only put on enough hay for a day or two and we found the stack was soaked through so it was more like silage than hay and very heavy. Donald stopped us on our way down to give us a bid to a showe at Roy hammonds on Wednesday night for Roy's new hired maan who has been working for Porter and who is marrtyinf Porter's hired gorl. The girl is from the home & the neighbourhood is very much worked up over there the alleged hard reatment she has been receiving at the Porters They claim she had. to woerk from half past four or five in the morning till eight or nine o'clock at night milking & doind heavy outside work bewsides the housework and that one day this winter old Wilson went down and as the man was thrashing at Ganley's he aitedtill the girlk got the washing down and then took her to the woods and had her help him saw up 25 logs with a cross cut saw. Whether it is as bad as they all think or not I don't know but they want to give the pair a good send off anyway. I didn't go back with rank.
