He went down with me to get the coal and then went back to Aunty's for dinner as he had to go to the dentist's this afternoon. I came home alone with the coal getting here about one. I put the team in and didn't unload the coal but had dinner and went over to Dove's sale, and there I bought a cow, a little bit of a {red on coming four and fresh about two weeks?}, she sold for $75.00 and was the highest priced one sold but Dove and the others who know her say she is a good one. Trum Walker backed my note. The cows hadn't been milked since last night so I milked quite a lot out of her before I brought her home. I had very little trouble with her as she is as quiet and gentle as a kitten. After I got home I had to unload my coal and then take the waggon back home and bring the buggy back here so that it was well after dark when I got back. Tom Stone overtook me just as I was turning in the lane and stopped to talk for awhile. He was just returning from taking the last of the Dove's possessions down town to them as they went down to their new home to-day. Tom said he wasn't at all sorry they were gone. He didn't know the night of the fire that he was going to have such a prolonged visit from them. Fine & milder.

Wednesday April 7th

I took Gay down to Aunty's this morning or at least at noon, we started out about eleven but I went up first to Willie Shand's and got 21 doz eggs that he has saved for me and then we stopped in at Art. Quanbury's to see about his eggs but he hadn't them ready so he said he would take them in for me in the morning We had to leave our eggs at Chris's and by the time we got down to Aunty's they were half through dinner & had given us up.

I went up and got my hair cut afer dinner and then cam ehome thinking I would be too late to go after Donald's 7 Welsh's eggs this after noonIt was cloudy all morning and was beginning to rain when i got home and Marj. had decided tat it was too wet to thonk of going to the shower but wwe got ready anyway. About seven o'clock it seemed to let up a little so I persuaded her tyo make a try as thought we wold never have as good. a chanc eto go again and we never have been at any of the neighborhood shines, so we rolled the baby up and well and struck out. It was. an awfiul night for rain, mud & darkness but wasn't cold. We took a lantern but by the time we got to Roy's it was coated with mud. We
