so we attempted it but didn't start soon enough & consequently were very late for church. I let Marj. out at Anderson's corner and she went on up to church while I took Queen down to the barn. I found Joe already in the barn so I tied Queen to the fence outside, and as Aunty Alice & Gay were in the house I went in and stayed with them till Marj. got back. Dad. came in soon after I did as he had been late too. Joe stepped on his foot this morning and it was very lame. We came back to the Lampkin's and found the baby had slept while we were away & had been good. We spent the after noon in the usual manner, except that we didn't have the kids to keep us awake. Marj. & Mrs. Lampkin had the baby so Dave & I snoozed by the stove in the dining room after Dave had recounted a portion of the Pilot Mound adventure. I went home about five to see how the fires were over here and to let the cows out and got back there about six to find that Mrs Lampkin had tea ready for us so we stayed to tea. Cam had brought her some suckers that he caught the other day and as Marj. was fish hungry she had them but as I had previously announced that I didn't care for fish she had beef specially for me. We came home right after tea and just as we got home Flossie & Charlie came in. I had to milk & Marj. had to wash up some of yesterday's dishes so they helped us. They stayed till about ten o'clock, then when Flossie said they must go Charlie said we hadn't had lunch yet much to Flossie's horror and everyone else's amusement. Bright but cold wind.

Monday April 12th

Frank came over this morning to help Marj. paper the spare room. Marj. glue sized the walls before he came so that the paper would stick and it aparently worked. We all put in the day at the job and finished it up. Mabel came over and helped us put the last strip of border on as Frank had to go to a practice. I intended going to band practice but fooled with a set of printing blocks that Mabel brought to Harry B. till I was too late. Cloudy and raw.

I went over home this morning and got the waggon and put the hog rack on it to go down to Geo. Hammonds
