after hay, Dad. wanted me to help him fix the barnyard fence before I left and by the time we got the rack on & the team harnessed it was nearly noon when I got started. I went through town and down the Plank Road as the other road is so bad, and I wanted to weight the waggon on my way but as it was noon when I got down there the scales were locked up. I got to Hammonds just as they were at their dinner they having waited for Kenneth who had gone to town with some hogs so they invited me to have it with them which I did. We then put the hay on and George said I could have another load. The roads were good most of the way so that I could get along with the ordinary rack except in my lane which is very bad. I got home here the middle of the after noon and was so hot riding up the side road that I had to take my coat & sweater off. I put the hay off and then took the waggon back first going back to town to weigh it. I had 620 lbs net of hay. It was tea time when I got to the farm so Dad. persuaded me to stay there and it was after dark when I got home. Ina & Marj. housecleaned the front room & murescoed it to-day and waited tea for me to-night so were rather peeved when I came home & said I had had tea. Harry B. wanted me to stay over there all night, and said Granny couldn't spare him to come home.

Wednesday April 14th

Ina stayed all night and she & Marj. have been house cleaning the dining room to-day. I took the stove pipe down and cleaned it and put it up again as it is too cold to take the stove down & besides we have no place to put it so I think will have to leave it where it is all summer. Marj. wanted me to put some roofing paint on the roof so that it wouldn't leak & spoil her new paper so I went down to Art's & borrowed his tar brush. I didn't get any on before dinner but got one lap on after dinner when Dad. & Dick drove over. Dick intends leaving on Friday so came over to say goodbye. They had been here only a very few minutes when it began to rain and they went back. It continued to rain and grow colder all the after noon except for a few intervals when it snowed or hailed.
