We weighed out enough seed last night to sow 20 lbs to the acre and I went over it twice with the seeder set to so 8 pints and I still had some seed left so went over the south side of the field again for a couple of rounds so I suppose it is sowed thicker than 20 lbs and the other side not so much. |
| − | + | I spent most of the morning & part of the after noon fixing up the fence along the front door yard to keep the chickens out. I put in a couple of steel posts but found I couldn't put the clips on without the tool for the purpose so i walked over home after dinner nd got it and thw qwire stretcher. Dad. & Enah came over about eleven and Dad. took the aftern=birth away from Bobbie. It was not much of a job after all as he wa sonly about two minutes at it. Mabel and her sister were here for dinner and this after noon Mildre and Harry B. went to the woods for flowers after i got home from the a=farm Marj. wet ovwer too. I rake over the spot that i dug yesterday nsd marj. planted some garden seeds. I put in enough steel posts tacross the norehgt end of the gully to string a couple of barbed wires so on so i can let the cows out there & save the rest. for awhile. Very warm & fine. Every body is on the land. | |

Thursday April 22nd
I intended going down to get my fence wire first thing this morning but as it was such a lovely morning Marj. wanted me to dig a spot in the garden for some seeds so by the time I got that done it was too late to go before dinner but we had an early dinner and I went down right after. I went home first to get the waggon and found nobody home so I got old Charlie & the waggon and went down alone. I got 3 rolls of 30 rod. 9 wire fence, fifty posts, a spool of barbed wire, brace wire and hooks I also went down and got a bushel of alfalfa seed at Harry Misners. I came home by the farm as I wanted to tell Dad. about Bobbie, she not having cleaned properly yet, but Mr. Cornish was there and he couldn't come out to-night but said he would be out in the morning. I came home unloaded my wire & then went back & got the buggy so it was dark when I got through. Very warm all day high wind this after noon.
