Friday May 7th

I made another attempt to plough the corn stubble this morning but it was still too wet so I harrowed it over, thinking that if the top was scratched up a little it might dry better. I also harrowed the hill next the school house this after noon but it was in better shape and I believe would plough. As we had 15 doz eggs to take to town and I didn't want to take the time Marj. drove down and did her trading. She tried to get Glad Law, Essie, and Belle Smith in town to go with her and hold Queen for her while she was in the store but as they were all otherwise engaged Belle sent Mr. Smith down with her. She called around by the farm and said Dad. & Frank had all the sheep sheared but three. She left me to feed the baby and by the time I got that done and the little chickens herded back into their brooder house, when it began to get cool outside, I didn't get much else done except a little more of yard raked. They celebrated Arbour Day at the school yard to-day and Harry B. attended representing the family. He went over and came back all by himself and said he had a good time. I saw him over in the woods with some of the boys. Fine & warm.
