I finished ploughing the corn stubble to-day and rolled down to-days ploughing. It was a hard job turning over the red clay along the road and on the side hill next the lane, in fact I didn't turn much of it but merely rooted it up. It was hard work for poor old Belle and I had a hard job making her walk in the furrow. | I finished ploughing the corn stubble to-day and rolled down to-days ploughing. runway for them this after noon and cut a larger opening in the brooder house. Mrs. Lampkin was over this afternoon and brought a mixed up Johnnie cake all ready to add soda to and bake. Mabel came over to tea and stayed all night while I walked down to band practice. I walked across and told Mrs. Walker that Mabel was staying and then cut across the fields through Tuppers, Pickford's and home to town. I stopped in home for a few minutes. Dad. had a couple more letters from England. I didn't read them but he said that they did meet the Judge on the 4th so had evidently sent the cable after seeing him. Mr. Parks said also that they had gone down to Wales to try to dig up more evidence concerning Mrs. Dick's miscarriage but had been unsuccessful. The doctor down there said he had not been called in until after the London doctor had arrived which was a day or two later than the child's birth. He also said that Mrs. Dick had called at the office to see Washborough while Mr. Parks was away and said it would be to his advantage to hear what she had to say but when she heard that they were down in Wales, she was furious, but Mr. Whatley is going to impress on her the unpleasantness of publicity if she kicks up much fuss

A fellow has a slim chance of salvation when he has to plough with a team like that as swearing is absolutely necessary. Queen is so quick and Belle so slow that they pull the plough all over, and turning at the ends Queen steps over her traces nearly every time because Belle doesn't pull up her end of the doubletree. I was dead tired to-night and my feet hurt. I went to sleep in the hay at noon after dinner and would probably have beeen there yet only Marj. suspected me when she didn't see me at work and came out and called me about two o'clock. She was tired out to-night as she has taken full charge of the little chickens and she had Ina here to-day washing & house cleaning and Mabel for dinner. Ada called for Ina to-night so saved me a trip. Fine day but cold N. wind.
