a rivet came out of a section of the knife & it worked under another section and loosened all the rivets in the head of the knife. After dinner I went back to finish what I had left with the scythe, and worked & sweltered down there till three o'clock when I came up and got Queen ready for Marj. She took Harry B & Gay with her and left the baby with me I thought she would play in the sand pile by herself but she "howled dismal" if I moved ten feet away for her so I took her with me back to the little meadow and sat her on a pile of hay with her tin horn while I mowed the grass around the fences and then it looked so much like rain that I came up. Harvey Shand was mowing the school yard and he cut the little piece of timothy & marsh grass that I had had to leave for me which was very decent of him. I tried to put the baby to sleep and did get her off but she woke up as soon as I put her down and by this time it was so late that it was no use going out to cultivate so I weeded a little in the flower garden. It rained a short shower. Marj. & the kids got home after six some time after having terrible times. They put Queen in Clark Horn's barn when the shower came up Mrs. Horn unhooked her for Marj. and Clark hooked her up again. Marj. had to carry her berries around to sell them and when she got Queen hooked up again the flies were so bad she wouldn't stand worth a cent.
