| + | Frank came over before we were through breakfast and helped me take the three cows over home. The yearling wouldn't go out of the yard and the calf got as far as the end of the lane and then went wild and bolted back so we left them here in the gully to keep old Belle company but I imagine they will be pretty lonely themselves and the calf will miss his milk. I drove Queen over to the farm and left her there and walked down town Dad had gone to Simcoe with Mr. Barwell but left me a cheque for $200.00 at Aunty's which I took up and deposited saving enough out of it to get our tickets and send Marj. off with. Quint drove me back here about noon and took the trunk and apples back with him to the station. After dinner I walked up to Harvey Shand's with the school house key as Ray doesn't know yet whether he is going to stay here or not. Mr. Bagley came out for us at 3 o'clock and took us down to Aunty's and then called for us again and took us to the train at 4.40. We had an uneventful trip to Toronto. Mrs. Kerr & her two boys went down too. The kids were very good. Harry B. intensely interested & rather excited over it all. Gay excited and a little frightened at the sudden noises especially when we passed another moving train which we did once or twice and the Doodle bug, very pleased with everything and highly excited and rather resentful at being confined to one spot. Clara met us at the station and drove us right to their house, which is a brand new one and very nice. It looks small but has an amazing number of large rooms in it. It is just west of Bathurst St. on top of the hill. We gave the kids their tea and put them to bed then had ours | ||

Monday September 6th
It has been a fine day but too wet from yesterday's rain to do any thing with the hay so I spent the day here at home putting the roof on my new chicken pen. I got what little sheeting is necessary for a tin roof on both sides and got the roofing on the north side I didnt make a good job of it getting it started crooked in some way but it will afford some shelter for them. Ina has been here all day helping Marj. get ready. I picked a couple of bushels of early apples in the young orchard this after noon to send to Dorrie & Phyl. I forgot, but it it did rain one very heavy shower early in the forenoon
